1964 Citroën HY "Champagne truck" No reserve

1964 Citroën HY "Champagne truck" No reserve - Superb build, fully equipped - Ideal for serving chilled drinks at classic car events - Tremendous charm and crowd appeal - No reserve This Citroën HY was sold new in France as a standard panel van. While its early history is not precisely known, it was acquired on 26 August 1980 by a Mr. Jean-Pierre Suner based in Passa, near Perpignan, and registered 149 DU 66. In 2017, he sold it to Dutch specialist Le Marchand, an expert in Citroën Type H restorations, who carried out a comprehensive overhaul. This work is thoroughly documented by numerous photographs and invoices. In 2018, the HY van was purchased by Thierry Dehaeck to complement his Citroën collection, and he decided to convert it into a beautifully fitted-out "Champagne Truck" designed to serve drinks at vintage car gatherings. Entrusted to HY Conversions, this special van now features a side opening and is equipped with three refrigerators, a freezer, a sink with running water, dedicated storage for glasses and bottles, as well as electrical outlets for power needs. For practical purposes, it was fitted with a 2.3-liter Volvo B23FT inline-four engine, delivering significantly more power than the original Citroën unit. This HY also benefits from disc brakes, a brake servo, and power steering. However, the original engine, original gearbox, original wheels, and original braking system components are all included in the sale, making the conversion fully reversible. The transformation cost approximately €42,000 excluding taxes. Since then, it has been used for various receptions when not on display as part of Thierry Dehaeck's collection. Finished in a shade of blue consistent with period color charts, in superb overall condition, and accompanied by a copy of Mr. Suner's former French registration document, this HY is the perfect vehicle for any event or classic car gathering, where it will blend in seamlessly while offering a welcome refreshment service.
