6pc Compagnie de Navigation Sud-Atlantique "SS Massilia Crossing the

This remarkable maritime archive provides a festive glimpse into shipboard life and equatorial ceremonies aboard a premier French luxury ocean liner between 1925 and 1931. The grouping is centered on an exceptional 1925 Fetes de la Ligne bifold commemorative program honoring the historic Line-Crossing tradition under the prestigious honorary presidency of aviation legend Alberto Santos-Dumont and Portuguese Admiral Gago Coutinho. The 1925 materials are completed by a concert program directed by M. Georges Thiry and a cardstock Bal Travesti fancy dress ball announcement bearing the distinct Sud-Atlantique rooster insignia. Documenting a later voyage, the collection also includes two June 6, 1931 Crossing the Line prize certificates bearing stylized manuscript signatures from Le Commissaire, awarded to young travelers Marie and Michel Mirande and preserved alongside an original blue cardstock contest tag suspended from a cream ribbon.
