second half of the 19th century, ebonised hardwood body, the front richly decorated with tortoiseshell marquetry and chased brass sheet floral motifs, one frieze drawer, below which three faux drawers form a hinged writing flap: rosewood-veneered interior drawers and compartments, gilt-tooled leather writing surface, four further drawers below, marble top, bronze decorative mounts, some of which in figural (so-called espagnolettes), c. 151 x 78 x 40 cm, restored condition.
