Antonio Pirozzi - Magico d'oriente

“Oriental Magic” is an original and spectacular oil painting by the Neapolitan artist Antonio Pirozzi. It is a surrealist-style work, better defined as magical surrealism or absurdism, where fantastic figures with distinctive costumes, dreamlike nocturnal landscapes, musical instruments and extravagant animals evoke particular fairy-tale atmospheres imbued with spirituality and philosophy whose origin lies in a certain Oriental literature and in the so-called theatre of the absurd. Here, in fact, the reversal of logic is represented that does not arise so much from dreams or the subconscious, but rather from a game of imagination, in which all connections are chosen with care to construct a plot.
