Bacchus Antwerpener Schule

The painter takes up Rubens’s famous composition, now in the Hermitage, and varies it slightly. Probably painted in Antwerp around 1650, the small panel may have served to record the pictorial idea and composition as an ‘aide-mémoire’. | 15.-18.
