Barbara "Tahn-Moo-Whe" Gonzales (Native American, b. 1947) San IIdenso

Blackware pottery seed jar, featuring a squat, low-profile form with a polished gunmetal finish. The top surface displays intricate sgraffito decoration consisting of stylized feathers or petals radiating from a small central aperture. The jar is embellished with nine stone inlays: a larger central turquoise stone surrounded by four smaller turquoise stones and four orange-red stones, likely coral or spiny oyster shell. A circular band around the opening is oxidized to a sienna-brown tone, providing contrast to the black polished surface. The underside is finished in a matte, unpolished texture. The base bears an incised signature reading TAHN-MOO-WHE, for artist Barbara Gonzales. Dimensions: 6"W x 3.5"H Weight: 12. oz Condition Request Condition Report Good.
