bronzen vogelvormig wijnvat - Bronze - China (No reserve price)

Bronze bird-form wine vessel (often referred to as a zun or he, resembling a duck, goose, or bird) from ancient China (usually dated to the Zhou to Han dynasty). A standing waterfowl or duck with a long neck that serves as a pouring spout. Handle, an ornate, often dragon- or beast-shaped arched handle (tiangang) attached to the neck and back of the bird. A small lid with a ring knop on top of the back of the body. A weathered, dark green to brown copper patina indicating age and bronze oxidation. Such vessels were used in ancient China as ritual pouring or wine vessels (zun / he) for heating or storing wine during ceremonial offerings. Comparable historic pieces are found in museums such as the Brooklyn Museum and the Shanxi Museum (Shanxi博物院).
