Burmese amber - Amber - Burmese Amber with Two Fossil...

An amber piece from Myanmar (Burma) dating to the Cretaceous period with three fossil inclusions: two winged insects with unusually well-developed antennae and a small spider (Araneae). Notably remarkable are the unusual antennae of the two winged insects. They consist of numerous clearly distinct, pearl-like segments and have noticeably enlarged, almost triangular terminal segments. The two specimens show a very similar body plan and belong to the same species. In the better-preserved specimen, the stout thorax, the clearly segmented abdomen, the jointed legs, and transparent, membranous wings are visible. The dark preservation allows, especially under magnification, examination of various anatomical details. As the third inclusion there is a small fossil spider in the amber. Several bent legs, some with fine bristles, as well as body structures are recognizable. The preservation is less distinct than in the two winged insects and is therefore mentioned here only as a secondary inclusion. Classification of the two winged insects within Diptera (true flies) appears possible. A more precise taxonomic assignment is intentionally not made, as this would require examination of wing venation and other diagnostic features. Details: Origin: Myanmar (Burma) Age: approx. 99 million years Cretaceous / Cenomanian Primary inclusions: 2 fossil winged insects (Diptera) Secondary inclusion: small spider (Araneae) Weight: 0.49 g Polished for better viewing of the inclusions. The yellowishly transparent amber provides a clear contrast to the darker fossil inclusions. Particularly the unusual antenna structure of the two winged insects makes this piece interesting for collectors. Natural resin structures, organic particles, small bubbles and irregularities are part of the fossil amber. Taxonomic placement is based on visible morphological features. You will receive exactly the amber shown in the pictures.
