CHER. CHÂTEAU DES BARRES. Letter signed by the Count de la P - Lot 419

CHER. CHÂTEAU DES BARRES. Letter signed by the Count de la PORTE, on behalf of the Prefect of CHER, addressed to the Countess de BONNEVAL, at Château des BARRES near ST AMAND (Cher), from BOURGES, February 3, 1817. He acknowledges receipt of a bundle of letters. “I had spoken to the Prefect about your desire to settle your affairs with the Duchess of CHAROST on Saturday evening…” The delay is not due to the Prefecture’s offices but to the responses from the Duchess of CHAROST. “Immediately, the Prefect had me read a letter from the Duchess of CHAROST, in which she informs him of the proposals she is making to you—or having made on her behalf—to settle the matter amicably and in a manner advantageous to you…” 1½ pages, in-4°
