CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, ND (1910). Tientsin Mint. Hsuan-t'ung

early-Choice Late Imperial "Dragon Dollar" Pattern CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, ND (1910). Tientsin Mint. Hsuan-t'ung (Xuantong [Puyi]). PCGS MS-62. L&M-24; K-219 = KM; WS-0036; Wenchao-98 (rarity: ★★). Emanating from the penultimate year of the Ch'ing dynasty, as well as the empire itself, this RARE and wondrous crown pattern deviates from nearly all others in the vintage series in that the denomination is presented on the dragon side with the American Dollar symbol ($) is an elegant block-like script. The dragon is much more constrained as compared to other patterns of the reign, where the dragon instead consumes most of the peripheries with its coiled body. Here, the mythical beast is circumscribed within a beaded border. Meanwhile, the characters side remains somewhat spartan, with a vast degree of open fields. Most elegantly toned and vibrant, with enticing brilliance bounding about as well. Estimate: $50,000 - $75,000. Provenance: From the Liu Mung Wang (汪柳門) Collection.
