Original British army field equipment set from the early Second World War. The lot includes a two-part British aluminium mess tin clearly stamped “E & Co 1939” with the Broad Arrow, the British regulatory mark. The set also includes a military canteen with its felt/khaki pouch and strap system, as well as a metal cup (GB or FR?). The mess tin shows normal signs of use and age: scratches, patina and handling marks. The E & Co 1939 marking remains particularly clear and legible. The canteen pouch shows wear and a few small holes, visible in the photographs. The canteen and the various components also display a patina consistent with their age. The 1939 date is evidenced by the marking on the mess tin. No precise dating is assigned to the other items in the absence of visible markings.
