Exceptional Cambrian Soft-Bodied Fossil - Fossil carapace...

A remarkable and highly unusual Cambrian fossil from the world-famous Chengjiang Lagerstätte of Yunnan, China. Xiaoheiqingella peculiaris is a small soft-bodied Cambrian organism traditionally interpreted within the priapulid group. Unlike trilobites and other organisms with mineralised skeletons, this animal had no hard parts, making its fossil preservation particularly valuable for understanding the diversity of early Cambrian life. The characteristic urn-shaped, pleated body and preserved internal structures are among the features used to identify Xiaoheiqingella. Some specimens also preserve the strongly coiled intestinal structure that is particularly distinctive within this group. The Chengjiang Lagerstätte is renowned for its exceptional preservation of soft-bodied organisms, providing one of the most important windows into the Cambrian Explosion. Scientific studies have documented Sicyophorus rara among the vermiform fossils of the Chengjiang deposits. An unusual and highly collectible fossil for specialists in Cambrian palaeontology, Chengjiang fossils and the evolution of early complex life. Condition: Please refer to the photographs for the exact condition and preservation.
