In-12, red shagreen, Louis XVI’s coat of arms gilded on the covers, interior lace, gilded head on endpapers, cover and spine (contemporary binding). Portrait of Queen Marie-Antoinette as a frontispiece. One of 50 copies printed on Marais vellum. A copy specially printed for Léon Daudet (1867–1942), who subsequently gave it to his muse and woman of letters, Haydée Magnus Level (1903–1991). It bears a signed dedication by Léon Daudet and contains an autograph letter from the writer to his dear friend (one in-12 page on mourning paper, with envelope attached). From the Haydée Magnus Level library, featuring her large stenciled bookplate by Lucien Laforge. A 7-cm tear along the spine.
