Hank Catton Mallard Drake Decoy

Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada. 1st Quarter 20th Century. Henry Hank Catton (1854 - 1933). This drake mallard has paint in the style of the paint patterns used for Mason Premier grade mallards. The paint and form gives credence to the theory that Hank was well aware of Mason decoys as he was a resident of Michigan for a time in his life. This decoy is clearly well executed with craftsmanship, style and paint. An incredibly rare decoy in this condition with only one other known example in significantly worn condition of this style and matching paint pattern residing in an Ontario collection. Marked, "F W B and 1926" on bottom.
