Born in 1984 in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam; lives and works in Hanoi Originally from Thanh Hoa province, located 150 km south of Hanoi, Hoang Anh belongs to this pivotal generation of Vietnamese artists (the 8x generation) who combine cultural heritage with contemporary abstraction. A graduate of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, he established himself on the Hanoi art scene with a bold approach to matter and color. Graduated from the Talent Arts program (class of 13) at the Thanh Hoa School of Culture and Arts Graduated from the painting department (class of 48) at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts Style and Artistic Approach Hoang Anh's work is distinguished by an intense exploration of texture and movement. Although he explores varied themes such as landscapes, nature, and the female figure, it is in abstraction that he reveals his full expressive power: • The energy of gesture: A proponent of oil and acrylic painting, he frequently uses a palette knife to apply color in vigorous horizontal brushstrokes.
