Italian 19th Century Pietra Dura Table
An Italian circular center table of the 19th century, with a white marble frame enclosing an elaborate pietra dura top composed of an intricate geometric mosaic of finely cut hardstones in a variety of natural colors. The central medallion is decorated with a radiating compass-star motif, surrounded by concentric bands of polychrome marble inlaid in triangular patterns. The table exemplifies the high level of craftsmanship associated with the Italian tradition of pietra dura and decorative stone inlay. Dimensions: 39" dia. Weight: 113 lbs.
