Italian school (XIX) - Madonna in Maestá, da Duccio di Buoninsegna

With frame 36x45cm Without frame 28x37cm The artwork depicted in the image is a painting in the style of the Siena masters of the 14th century, traceable to famous compositions of the Duccio di Buoninsegna school and his followers (such as Niccolò di Segna or Ugolino di Nerio). It represents the traditional sacred theme of the Madonna and Child, characterized by the gold background, the typical punch-marked halos, and the dense drapery of the fabrics. Paintings with this exact iconography and composition — in which the Child Jesus, dressed in a light tunic, rests his feet on the Virgin's arm and delicately holds the veil under her mantle — have been catalogued in the past within art catalogs dedicated to historical forgers or period imitations (such as works catalogued by the Giorgio Cini Foundation and the Giorgio Zini Foundation under the entry of imitator masters or forgers of the 19th-20th centuries in the Siena style).
