John Houle, Paul Storr's Apprentice. An outstanding George III Serving

The Dish has a large oval form with a shaped rim decorated with bold gadrooning, interspersed with bold Rococo shells, flanked by acanthus foliage. One side of the border is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a pluming scroll cartouche and the other with a contemporary Crest. The Dish is in excellent condition, with crisp marks on the reverse. The work of John Houle is nearly always of exceptional quality and design, reflecting his apprenticeship in the Paul Storr workshops. The arms are those of Broadhead quartering Brinckman and Bingley and impaling MacDougall.
