NORTH AMERICAN SCHOOL. 20TH CENTURY. Portrait with shadows, 2000.

Descriptio Black and white photographic print. Dimensions: 35 × 28 cm. This artistic photograph features a short-haired woman in the foreground, her shoulders bare and her torso partially covered by a white cloth. She gazes directly at the viewer with a serene and penetrating expression. Behind her is a light-haired figure, standing with her back to the viewer and her torso bare, whose silhouette casts a large shadow on the background wall. The composition establishes an intriguing dialogue between the physical presence of the figures and their projections, playing with the duality of light and shadow, presence and absence. The side lighting accentuates the tonal contrasts and models the volumes of the bodies, creating an atmosphere of great psychological intensity. His visual language is reminiscent of the photography of Robert Mapplethorpe (1946-1989), especially in the sculptural treatment of the human figure, the compositional precision, and the dramatic use of black and white, as well as certain compositions by Herb Ritts (1952-2002), due to their formal elegance and the prominence given to light on the body.
