Original China Traditional Pure Silk on Silk Old - Rug...

Chinese Silk Carpets: Masterpieces of Eastern Knitting Art Chinese silk carpets are among the most exclusive and finest textiles in the world. They combine a millennia-old tradition with the highest craftsmanship and are renowned worldwide for their exceptional quality and elegance. The Material: Pure Luxury These carpets are made from pure natural silk. Using silk for both the pile and often for the warp (the foundation) enables an extremely high knot density. The result is an incredibly fine, almost pictorial drawing of the patterns and a surface that feels incomparably soft and supple. Characteristic Lustre & Appearance A hallmark of Chinese silk carpets is their luster. The silk reflects light in a unique way, causing the colors to shift depending on the viewing angle and lighting—sometimes they appear delicate and pastel, other times deep and radiant. Many of these carpets also feature a so-called relief cut (contour cut), where the patterns are carved in relief to give them a three-dimensional depth.
