Petrified Wood Cubes – Natural Art from Millions of Years...

This extraordinary cube made of petrified wood combines the natural beauty of fossilized wood with a modern geometric form. The contrasting color gradients from creamy white through brown to deep black show the original wood structure, which over millions of years has been replaced and preserved by minerals. The sharp edges of the cube meet the organic grain of the once-living tree, creating a fascinating interplay of nature and design. Each side reveals new patterns and makes this piece a unique eye-catcher. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Sphere of Petrified Wood Weight :2109,99g Size: 100x100mm Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
