PHILIPPINES. Manila. Carnival Silvered Bronze Medal, 1936. NGC MS-64. Honeycutt-268A. Dimensions: 32 x 24 mm. By Heacock Co. Obverse: Philippines personified (Maria dela Cruz) holding cornucopia left, exhibition grounds in background, inscription above "MANILA CARNIVAL", date below "1936"; Reverse: Blank, stamped "HEACOCK CO. / MANILA". This lovely near-Gem example displays light attractive tone with richer coloration near the edges. The surfaces are smooth and the glossy enamel is intact. A seldom encountered issue found in this high state of preservation and as such should be considered RARE and highly desirable. Occurring in the early Commonwealth, this exhibition featured many regional pavilions and booths highlighting provincial products and infrastructure. This year, 1936, crowned Miss Philippines Mercedes Montilla from Negros Occidental, Miss Luzon Amparo Reyes Karagdag from Bulacan, Miss Visayas Helen Cutaran Bennett from Nueva Vizcaya and Miss Mindanao Cleofe Jaime Balingit from Pampanga. Estimate: $400 - $600. Provenance: From the Dr. Earl Honeycutt Collection. To view all items from the Dr. Earl Honeycutt Collection, click
