One of the numerous reissues of this work first published in 1732, a true best-seller of the eighteenth century. The abbé Noël-Antoine Pluche presents the wonders of nature, from astronomy to biology, passing through physics and natural history, aligning with the spirit of the Enlightenment while maintaining a providential view, seeing in nature the harmonious work of God. This edition is illustrated with 9 frontispieces and about 200 copper-engraved plates, by the engravers Demeuse, of Liège, and Jakob Conrad Back, of Frankfurt. These plates, mostly folding, relate to all areas of natural history, the exact and technical sciences, astronomy, geography, etc. ). A copy of great freshness, in remarkable condition.
