Rare Bernard Golay Micro-quartz chronometer made in collaboration with Longines for ships and aircraft, no. 6893, circa 1964, calibre 800 quartz movement signed Longines-Golay 6893, the dial signed Golay with centre seconds in a brass fronted case, 4" x 2.75", depth 3.25" ** Golay S.A in Lausanne Switzerland was one of the principal pioneers in quartz marine timepieces. In 1964, a partnership between Golay and Longines was formed. The first product to emerge was the Micro-Quartz announced in 1964. This was not the first quartz chronometer produced but was the smallest. The Micro-Quartz chronometer was submitted to the Observatory at Neuchatel where it won first prize, setting a precision record for a single chronometer in 1964. The following year it beat its own performance with another prize ** From the David Read Collection
