Detailed product description Short description For sale is an absolutely flawless specimen of a Chestnut Cowrie (Neobernaya spadicea, formerly also known as Cypraea spadicea). The shell measures 40 mm and thus reaches the perfect, fully mature adult size. It has been classified with the top rating “GEM” – meaning the snail is in a faultless, collector’s dream condition with no optical or structural defects whatsoever. An exquisite highlight for ambitious porcelain cowrie collectors (Cypraeidae) or as a noble jewel for the showcase cabinet. Product details & highlights at a glance Species: Neobernaya spadicea (Swainson, 1823) Family: Cowries (Cypraeidae) German name: Kastanien-Porzellanschnecke / Chestnut Cowrie Size: 49 mm (classic, elegant adult size) Condition / Grading: GEM Grade (highest collector level: absolutely perfect, flawless, without defects) Surface: Mirror-smooth shell with a deep, glass-like natural enamel gloss Coloring: Breathtaking contrast of rich chestnut brown on the dorsum and a pure white underside (basis) Origin: Northeast Pacific / Southern California, USA (e.g., Channel Islands or San Diego; a true cold- to temperate-water specimen from rocky kelp regions) Special feature: Perfectly formed, fine tooth structures along the aperture (Aperture) Condition description The present specimen is an absolute rarity in GEM condition.
