[Signed] [First Edition] American Financial Institutions...

First Edition -- Inscribed to General Robert E. Wood -- of this collection of essays that survey the range and function of American Financial institutions in the early post World War II era. Editor Herb Prochnow was a leading Chicago banker, O.S.S. official during World War II, government policy maker, and, most visibly, a fabled public speaker and author of devoutly read books for aspiring toastmasters. The exemplar of Rotary luncheons and Chamber of Commerce banquets, Prochnow was a widely quoted wit who uncorked such bon mots as "a great many people mistake opinions for thoughts." (And that includes you, snickering schoolboy Donnie Trump!) The book is inscribed to General Robert E Wood, another Chicago business heavyweight of the period, was the president of Sears Roebuck at the height of the company's retail power and founder of the Allstate insurance. Gen. Wood was also one of the nation's most prominent and resolute conservatives whose many credentials included co-founding the World War II era America First Committee. Inscribed by Herbert V. Prochnow to GeneraL Robert E. Wood on the front endpaper. 799 pages. No dust jacket. Has light edge wear. Otherwise, minimal sign of previous use.
