Victorian Pink Diamond Quilted Mother of Pearl Satin Glass Vase

Victorian mother of pearl satin glass vase. The stick-neck form features a bulbous ovoid body tapering into a long neck, resting on a slightly flared foot. Constructed of cased glass, the piece consists of an inner opaque white layer and a shaded pink outer layer graduating in color. The surface is decorated with a diamond quilted air-trap pattern, where air pockets are captured between the glass layers during the blowing process. The exterior is finished with an acid treatment to create a soft satin texture. The pattern continues through the underside of the base.
