Wooden BOVID. Surface accented with black and white pigments. China, Han Dynasty, ca. 1st–2nd century. 34x47. French private collection. A rare and beautiful depiction of a species of humped buffalo, with its hindquarters raised and head lowered, which was among the animals comprising the funerary furnishings of a tomb in the Wuwei region of Gansu.
